·
An issue
exists at this end of the link involving the sun. Because the orientation of
the transceivers is east to west, there will be approximately 2 days/year when
the disk of the sun could align directly behind the site B mount location. This
can compromise the link for up to 5 minutes. Ordinarily, the mount would be lowered
so that the sidewall will provide shielding from the sun. In this installation
that is not recommended for two reasons:
1. The LOS is only clearing trees by 10'
2. A redundant RF link is present and will keep the link functional
during these brief incidents

Purpose:
This installation
will be used to connect buildings at (Site A) and (Site B) for data
communications.
Pre-Installation
requirements:
·
Installation
requires that a small junction box be installed close to the mounting location,
1 to 2 feet to the right or left.
·
This junction
box should contain the AC power outlets and room for the fiber optic cable
terminations
·
The Link head
transceivers have an electronics box with openings for ¾” flex conduit, ¾” flex
conduit should be used to route power and fiber from the junction box to the
Link head transceiver.
·
Alternatively,
the user can install a shrouded outdoor power outlet where the unit can be
plugged in and use ¾” flex conduit to route the fiber connection into the unit.
·
The Link head
transceivers use 62.5/125-micron multi mode fiber with a center wavelength of
1310nm to 850nm, terminated with ST connectors, to connect to the clients
network.
·
The center
frequency depends on the type of networking equipment used and must be
specified by the user, prior to shipment of the Link head equipment.
·
A minimum of
two strands of fiber is required for connectivity. It is recommended that six strands of fiber be installed. Two for connectivity and the remaining four
for redundancy and remote monitoring if purchased.

The Site A link
head position is located on the rooftop of a three-story brick office
building located at Street Address in City, State. The building is part of
the larger complex and is known as Building II. The mount will attach to the
sidewall and will provide a transceiver position approximately 42" above
the parapet cap. |
|
|
This is the view
from the installation location on the south west corner of the rooftop of
site A looking west toward the rooftop of site B. The Link head will be
located on west side approximately six to eight feet N of the south west
corner of the building's penthouse sidewall. The corner provides good
rigidity and a good line-of-site position. If permission is granted, the vertical
flange will attach to the inside of the parapet sidewall. |
This picture was
taken from a position 2' above the parapet. |

The Site B Link
head position is located on the sidewall of the penthouse of the Building
Name, a three-story brick office building located at Street Address, City,
State; 656 meters west of site A. |

The mount will
position the transceiver 42" above the parapet cap. The side of the
penthouse parapet at the Site B building provides a solid brick surface for a
rigid mount. |
|
|
This zoom of Site
A from Site B discloses the beam's clearance over the treetops. There is
currently approximately 10' which is a good margin allowing for a couple of
years or more of growth. |

This is the view
from the installation location on the east side of the penthouse of site B
looking east toward the rooftop of site A. This picture was taken from a
position 2' above the parapet. |

Conclusion:
The procedure
envisioned for this installation is that FSO Contractor Name will accomplish
the installation including cabling, mounting of the equipment, positioning,
calibration of the transceivers, and configuration of the OptiSwitch 400 for
failover to the existing BreezeCom 2.4 Ghz RF link. Company will provide
lightening protected 110vac at the two equipment installation points on the two
rooftops.
